Mere Brother Ki Dulhan – the romantic comedy film that marked the writing and directing debut of Ali Abbas Zafar after his role as the assistant director for Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, Tashan, New York and Badmaash Company. Starring-Imran Khan, Katrina Kaif, Ali Zafar Either you will love it – or hate it, but it deserves a watch.ĭelhi Belly – 2011’s tenth highest grossing film. I reviewed the film for BollySpice and gave it a 4/5 and still say that it is one of the must watch films of 2011. Pankaj Sabnani reviewed for Glam Sham commenting, “You do hope the narrative was a bit tauter as it seems a bit lacklustre in portions”, while giving the film 3/5. Reviews for the film included Taran Adarsh comment ,“The unblemished, racy screenplay coupled with super performances and a chartbusting musical score will make it a WINNER all the way”, giving the film a 4.5/5. It collected approximately 36 crore in first week of screening all around India and 7.25 crore overseas. The film collected 55 crore in India by the end of its third week, being declared a super hit. The film opened very well at the box office. However after losing his job as a copywriter in 2005 he revived the script, compiling 15 drafts before the movie went to floor. The film is written by Akshat Verma, a Los Angeles based writer who first wrote the screenplay as a part of his studies at the screenwriting programme at UCLA, under the title Say Cheese. An offending scene showing one of the protagonists, played by Kunaal Roy Kapur, visiting a brothel was cut and some expletives in two scenes were muted. On 3 July 2011, the Government of Nepal banned screenings of the movie later agreeing to clear the film for viewing by theatre goers aged above 16. The film also managed to land The Central Board of Film Certification into trouble when they apparently approved the song first time round without even batting their eyes, even though sections of the people were angry at the obscenity of the lyrics. Who can forget the controversy surrounding the Delhi Belly soundtrack? The fact that when certain lyrics were put together and sung at a quick pace, a popular expletive in North India was formed and it created more than just ripples in the media.
